North America in 1930:

Working on his publicity campaign, Lowe hired a math professor from Columbia University named Carl Leffler in order to work on creating a new Bingo card. The combination on these cards would add up to 6000. Legend has it that this project sent the math professor over the edge and into insanity.

North America 1934:

Once churches began to utilize the game of Bingo in order to raise funds for their charities, the game took off tremendously in popularity all over the country. This type of activity is largely credited with increasing the popularity of the game that we know today.

United Kingdom 1968:

The cards have a very specific type of layout.

Any numbers under the B are always chosen between numbers one through 15. All the numbers under the letter I are always between the numbers 16 and 30. Under the letter G, the numbers are chosen from between 46 and 60 and of course, below the letter O are numbers chosen between 61 and 75. With each card containing six tickets, cards are also referred to as strips, or strips of tickets.

The numbers one through 90 are randomly distributed all over the different columns. There is a certain order to the way that the numbers are distributed on the tickets. With a card or ticket strip, each number between one and 90 is located somewhere on the card. Each one of the rows contains five numbers with more blank spaces. When players call out Bingo, this refers to the fact that they have achieved a certain type of pattern on the card itself. With all manner of different names, the first pattern is referred to as one line, meaning that they have crossed off enough squares to produce one horizontal line. Following this is two lines, meaning two horizontal lines have been crossed off in order to create the pattern and of course, there is the full House which is accomplished by crossing off all the numbers on the players taking.
