The History of Bingo – It’s All in a Name! 

Generations of bingo players can’t be wrong, they love this game and now that we get bingo online, generations after us will also more than likely be playing the game. The history of bingo is a little clouded in, well…history. But the Americans like to lay claim to the actual name of the game and this was when Edwin Louw set out to market a game called Beano he had seen played in a local market.

So the history of bingo story goes; when he brought the game home, one of the people playing won, they were so excited they couldn’t contain themselves and stood and shouted BINGO, when they should have shouted “beano”.  However, British historians don’t necessarily agree with this and believe that the history of bingo happened in the UK long before this incident took place.
